Fish from the North

Norway, Fjordland and world-wide leader in sustainability. No other country has so many MSC certified fisheries. Fish from the north is processed and frozen directly after catching, so that when you defrost the fish at home it tastes like fresh caught fish.


Cod MSC

Cod is common in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean. During the first months of the year the cod migrates from the Barents Sea to the south to spawn off the north west coast of Norway. During the summer the fish returns to the feeding grounds of the Barents Sea.  Norwegian-Arctic cod is the first Atlantic cod that has been certified for being a sustainable well-managed fishery. Cod has a white belly, an olive green and reddish-brown spotted back. The fish is 80-90cm long. Cod is a lean fish with a subtle taste and a flaky structure.

Haddock MSC

Haddock is found in the northern part of the Atlantic. Juvenile haddock grow in the Barents Sea. The mature fish spawn off the north west coast of Norway. Haddock is a bottom fish that lives at a depth of 20 to 200 metres. Haddock is caught throughout the year in different areas. The haddock fishery has been MSC certified since 2009. Haddock resembles cod. Both fish have three dorsal fins. Haddock has a dark greenish brown colour and a black lateral linerunning along its white side and a distinctive dark blotch above the pectoral fin. The fish can be as long as 100 cm and more than 20 years of age.
