Tilapia

Tilapia is an extremely popular freshwater fish. The fish is farmed sustainably and its food can be influenced, which makes the tilapia a healthy, firm, and mild-tasting fish. Tilapia stands out with its optimum ease of use. The boneless fillets are ideal for baking, stir fries, grilling, or coating with breadcrumbs.

Preparation

Leave the fillets to defrost in the fridge and dry them off. Sprinkle the fillets with the herbs of your choice or with lemon juice.

Frying pan:

Fry with a little oil or butter for approx. 4-6 minutes and turn over after 2-3 minutes.

Oven (Preheat the oven to 180°C):

Wrap the fillets in aluminium foil and heat for 12-15 minutes.

Microwave (750 Watt):

Cover with foil and heat for 2 to 3 minutes (per 2 fillets).

Preparation tips:

  • Marinate the fillets in soy sauce for an Oriental flavour.
  • Dip the fillets briefly in flour before frying for a crunchy coating.

Sustainable Tilapia

Regal Springs farming sites are located in countries that are undergoing significant growth and change, and whose populations are demanding food security. We are the world’s largest independent producer of tilapia. But our very first responsibility is to provide food security in our imediate farming communities. If we do not provide for them, or if we were to strip their ecosystems of renewable resources, we would be unable to operate.
