Queens Products uses the
MSC ecolabel on a large number of its fresh frozen fish products. The number of these MSC certified
products is growing steadily. MSC is the abbreviation of Marine Stewardship Council. MSC is developed during the nineties of last century. This international supervising organisation gives a (blue MSC) ecolabel to sustainable caught fish species.
Queens Products is registered under number SGS-NL-MSC-C-0250. This number is always mentioned on the packaging. The MSC standard for sustainable fishery was developed between 1997 and 1999. The MSC standard has been rooted in the code of conduct for responsible fishing, as drawn up by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations.
The three basic principles of the MSC-standard for sustainable fishery are:
- The stock of fish (or shellfish) must be and remain healthy
- The influence of the fishery on the eco system must be and remain restricted
- The management of fishery must be well organised, approvable observed and supervised
At this moment not all fisheries of the world are certified. For products that still cannot bear the MSC ecolabel, Queens Products selects a partner-supplier on the basis of the best possible way of careful and responsible production systems.
